A short distance from Piajo

When staying at the Piajo Resort you cannot miss the delightful walk that will take you to the Sanctuary of the Madonna dello Zuccarello, just behind the village of Nembro. According to tradition, it was the nobleman Bernardo Vitalba who established the Sanctuary of the Madonna dello Zuccarello, on his castle’s hill, on 8 December 1374. The church was the property of the Vitalba family for centuries – until 1845 when it was transferred to the Fabbriceria of the Parish of Nembro.
To reach the church of the Madonna dello Zuccarello, you can walk along the old mule trail and admire the fifteen statues of the Mysteries of the Rosary that most likely date to middle of the seventeenth century. Once at the sanctuary you will be greeted by a breathtaking view of the valley.
